Mysterious Lake

There are currently more than 3 million lakes around the world that are awesome to see because of their beauty. There are many beautiful lakes around the world, but there are also some lakes that are known for their mysterious and amazing features.

Fantasy

As a child, you may have heard the famous fantasy story that Andromeda, the daughter of the Greek king Cepheus, was the most beautiful princess in the world. It was said that she was more beautiful than the sea nymphs. The sea nymphs felt bad about this, so her father's government was attacked by a terrifying sea monster. This monster was so powerful that it was not possible for anyone to kill him. Monster said that he could destroy whole kingdom.

In such a case, one of the king's companions said that this giant could be defeated only through Medusa. He said that Medusa was a beautiful but terrifying beast, her skin glowed like gold, snakes fluttered on her head, the most dangerous were her eyes, the creature she could see at a glance turned to stone. So Perseus is sent to bring Medusa's head to save the princess. With the help of Hermes, he beheads Medusa and turns Monster to stone by showing her eyes. He saves Andromeda's life and marries her.

Similar stories are found in the legends of "Alif Laila" and "Fasana Ajaib" in which a magician turns a prince into a stone. In the stories you must have heard the story of King Midas,The most famous King Midas is popularly remembered in Greek mythology for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold.

But would you believe that there is a lake in the world today that touches and turns every living thing into stone?

Lake Natron

Yes! There is a mysterious lake in Tanzania, country of the largest continent of world Africa, in which every animal that enters the lake loses its life. The stone sculpture takes on the shape of a mummy. Watching these animals turn into rocks in the lake is reminiscent of a horror movie.

From a distance, this blood-red lake looks as if large pieces of meat have been scattered in the valley. The lake is known as "Natron Lake".

In terms of location, the lake is located very close to the Kenyan border in northern Tanzania and is about 140 km from Nairobi.

It is a saltwater lake composed of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate. The temperature of the lake is usually about 80 degrees Fahrenheit, but in certain conditions it can reach up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, or 60 degrees Celsius.

The large amount of nitrone found in the lake is due to the nearby volcano, whose ash causes an increase in nitrone. This volcano has erupted 8 times so far. This volcano first started erupting lava in 1883.

According to estimates so far, the cause of these horrific deaths is the nitro in the lake, its salt water and rising temperatures.

Discovery

The world came to know about this strange feature of the lake recently when an African photographer Nick Brandt visited this most mysterious lake in the world. He also took some pictures of several birds and bats that died there. For his new book, Across the Ravaged Land, Nick Brandt has photographed and documented many of the animals that have become rocky around the lake.

Nick Brandt writes in his book that when he reached the shores of Lake Nitron in northern Tanzania, he was shocked by the scene. On the shores of the lake he saw statues of animals and birds everywhere. These statues were of dead birds, animals and birds that go into the water of the lake and soon become calcified and become stones.

Nick Brandt wrote, "No one knows for sure how they died but, It seems that the strange color of the lake misled them and they all went down into the water.

Mystery

High levels of soda and salt in the water protect the carcasses of these birds. The alkaline level in this lake water is 9pH to 10.5 pH, ie as alkaline as ammonia. The saline element "nitrone" was also found in the water, which is found in volcanic ash. This element was used by the ancient Egyptians to preserve the mummies of the Pharaohs. Maybe that's why everything that touches the lake turns to stone and is preserved like a mummy.

Surprisingly, while no animal or bird can survive inside this mysterious lake, a special kind of fish lives in it despite being extremely poisonous and dangerous. This type of fish is called alkaline tilapia and they choose a lake shore where the water is less salty to survive.
