The Mystery of Paris Catacombs.

The Catacombs of Paris are belowground ossuaries in Paris, France, which has the remains of almost 60 lacs people in a small part of a tunnel system constructed to strengthen Paris' historical stone quarries. Opening south from the "Gate of Hell", former city gate, this ossuary was established as part of the action to remove the city's overflowing graveyards. Preparation work proceeded not long after a 1774 series of gruesome Saint Innocents-cemetery-quarter basement wall destructions added a sense of requirement to the cemetery-eliminating measure, and from 1786, nightly processions of private wagons transported remains from the maximum of Paris' graveyards to a mine shaft opened near the Rue de la Tombe-Issoire.

Watching the tv shows and documentaries, it’s easy to visualize getting lost in the Paris Catacombs and never making your journey out. Today, any tourist can embark on a guided trip, and memorize all types of data about the historic graves. However, this trip is just about 45 minutes long. It doesn't even grab you deep into the illegal areas, where the mysteries dwell.

A Mysterious Video:

In the early 2000s, a video reportedly recovered from a dusty camera discovered in the catacombs released on different TV channels. The director, who broadcasted the video as a part of a documentary on haunted areas, told that he collected the camera from so-called "cataphiles," unauthorized catacombs adventurers. The origins of the video are dark, leading several to insist that the video is a prank.

However, Whether it's a truth or fiction, the video is chilling as it shows a man growing progressively unstable, surprised, and lost. No one realizes what happened to the stranger in the video, which guides speculators to determine he expired in the catacombs. Spectators pore over the video for evidence like markings on the walls and bizarre, muted sounds.

"Don't try to find us"

People are, however, uncovering mysteries inside the catacombs. In 2004, the Parisian police investigated a recently isolated section of the catacombs as a part of their exercise routine. In their investigation, they experienced a sign advising people to turn back due to construction, even though there were no official construction schedules in the region. After they passed it, they heard the noise of dogs growling and barking in the night. They discovered the noise arose from a recording played over a sound system, likely installed to scare off interested intruders.

As the police pushed on, they discovered a detailed setup inside a more than 1,600-square-foot cavern, detailed with a big movie screen, as well as seats chiseled into the catacomb stone. The makeshift cinema neighbored a pub and restaurant wired with electricity and phone cables.

The officers finally exited the location. When they returned a few days later to explore the scene further, they found the phone and power cables shut off, as well as a note awaiting them, which read, "Do not try to find us."
