"Thank you for everything": the good-byes of a couple vanished in a fire in London.

Gloria Trevisan and Marco Gottardi came together in 2014 at Venice University’s Faculty of Architecture.

After graduating with honors in January 2017, they agreed to move to London jointly to start their professional careers.

In March 2017 less than two months later, they had both established promising positions and jobs in two different Architectural Studios in London. They resided in a wonderful apartment on the 23rd floor, located in the prestigious area of Notting Hill with superb views overlooking the city.

But life didn't go in simple ways.

Trapped in their flat, two young Italians phoned their families during the burning of a tower block in London.

For three months they resided in London on the 23rd floor of the Grenfell Tower. Gloria Trevisan and Marco Gottardi, two young Italian architects aged 26 and 27, had left their home country of Veneto to work in London. They were missing after the big tower fire that killed at least 58 people on Wednesday, they were the headlines of the transalpine newspapers, which recur on their heart-breaking telephone talks with their special ones on the evening of the incident.

During the fire, soon before midnight, Gloria and Marco called their family to tell them that a fire was in progress while understanding that it had tripped on the 3rd floor and that they were safe at the top of the tower in their flat. Citizens were informed to stay locked at home.

Then, during the evening, the young woman becomes nervous and becomes more and more scared. The Corriere Della Sera, who questioned Gloria's family adviser, said her mama asked her boyfriend to talk to him, which was more reassuring: "The firemen are there, everyone is ok."

"I will support you from up there."

Around 3 am, the smoke invades the couple's flat. "We can not go outside, we are stuck," Gloria informed her mother. Marco is on the call with his dad.

"There is a lot of fog. We unlocked the front door but there is so much smoke that we can not get out, the elevators are shut off," he was scared.

After one hour, the two young people realize they are condemned. The last call at 4:07 is just heart-wrenching.

"Mom, I know I'm dying, thank you for everything you've done for me, I'm so sorry, I can not kiss you one final time, I had all my life in front of me, I do not like to die, I liked to help you, thank you for all you have done for me, I am going to heaven, I will support you from above.”

Gloria

All of Italy was overwhelmed by the misfortune of this couple.
