The Child and En Elephant

On March 19, 25-year-old Jose Manuel Navarrete and his spouse brought their 2-year-old daughter to the San Diego Zoo.

When they arrived at the enclosed habitat of an African savanna elephant, Jose had an idea.

He chose to enter the habitat with his daughter in his arms to take a selfie with the elephant, while other zoogoers and his spouse saw in horror.

Luckily for the baby named Shaba,

(even though she was, onto the floor), he survived to run and pass through the boundaries just in time to not be attacked by the elephant, who was protecting its habitat.

He is now being held on a $100,000 bail and is being investigated for child danger and is scheduled to be prosecuted on March 30.

The girl went home with her mommy, who observers tell that was saying him to stop.

It is beyond me how desperate people can be. He took a chance on his daughter’s life for a selfie.

Some people are not meant to be parents, but unfortunately, we can’t select where we enter from, only where we go.

Shaba is fine and nothing will happen to her as she was simply protecting her territory.
