Strangest Disappearance At The Door Of Heaven

Nearly 6 years after a Big Island teen disappeared while hiking near Haiku Stairs, there is still no clue of Daylenn "Moke" Pua. This was one of the strangest disappearances of the area.

The 17-year-old vanished on the morning of February 27, when he said to his family members that he scheduled to hike Haiku Stairs, also called the "Stairway to Heaven."

Volunteer groups continue to search for Pua after both the Navy and the Honolulu Fire Department discontinued their search after one week where they searched the area for five days.

For one week, volunteer groups rappelled 600 feet below the hills at the end of the Kulana'ahane Trail, the region where Pua captured his last picture.

The photo was one of a few photos the teen had texted to family members during his journey, and after extensively reviewing the pictures they saw a man in one of them.

The family asked for the public's help in recognizing the man in the photo, hoping he may have more hints that could lead to Pua's area. If you recognize him, please call CrimeStoppers.
