The Mysterious Disappearance of an NBA Champion, Bison Dele.

How is it logical for an NBA player to completely disappear from the earth? Nowadays, it is nearly impossible because there are cameras everywhere and most of all of the athlete's life is in public. However, almost 20 years ago, a mysterious disappearance occurred to an NBA player who played and won a chip with Michael Jordan in Chicago Bulls back in 1997.

At the height of 6'10, Bison Dele was born to be a professional basketball player although he said that he is more curious about playing jazz and critiquing films. Basketball coaches weren't able to convince him to play ball until he was 16 years old. Bison Dele has a lot of potentials and did enhance quickly to become one of the lotteries picks back in '91. He was drafted 10th overall by the Orlando Magic which he was a part of for 2 years. He also spent 2 years in Denver, 1 year in L.A Clippers before going to Chicago which he was a big factor in their championship run in '97. Even though he only played 9 games in the regular season and 19 games in the playoffs for them, he did a big impact on them coming off the bench. Steve Kerr said that Bison Dele was the most physically gifted athlete he's ever seen and that the Bulls would not have won in '97 without him.

Bison Dele was a reigning champ in the prime of his career but he wasn't happy and satisfied. He signed a $40M deal with the Detroit Pistons after winning the chip with the Bulls. He completed the next season with averages of 16.2 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 1.2 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.7 BPG. The next season, after 49 games played, Bison Dele declared his retirement. Along with that, he also announced the abandonment of his remaining 5-year $36.45M contract. Going forward, he played music, earned a pilot license, and traveled the world on his boat. Sadly, on July 6, 2002, a trip to Tahiti with his girlfriend, his brother, and the boat's captain happened as they went south. On July 20, the boat was brought back to Tahiti. His brother was the only person that was on board. Bison Dele was missing for months before his brother was tracked down and found in Mexico but sadly, he knowingly had himself overdosed on insulin. The most popular theory about the disappearance is, Dele's brother held everyone on the boat at gunpoint and forced them into the ocean as he sailed off. The bodies of Bison Dele, his girlfriend, and the captains were never found. No one knows but it looks like that the motive was greed and jealousy.

Rest in peace Bison Dele.
