He was last seen by a friend who told him not to drink and drive - and Sean said he wouldn't, and would sleep off the alcohol in his car instead - but he and his car vanished without a trace.

Can you help bring Sean home?

24-year-old Lieutenant Sean Sargent went to a friend's party in Orchid Street St Lucia Brisbane on the 19th March 1999. Sean arrived at the party at nearly 7 pm with alcohol he had purchased at the Regatta Hotel.

Later that evening at almost 11 pm, he and three of his friends left the 1st party to attend another party at Hawkins Drive St Lucia.

Sean only stayed at the party for a short period due to an altercation he was involved in with a man from the party. At about 11:45 pm Sean was seen walking from the Hawkins Street premises. Although Sean mentioned he was going to sleep in his car, witnesses were unable to ascertain if he got into a vehicle or left on foot.

Although there were many alleged sightings of Sean over the following weeks, Sean has not officially been seen or heard from since this date. Sean's vehicle, a blue 1992 EB Falcon Sedan with Queensland Registration 746 ENN has not been sighted since this date either. There are concerns for Sean's safety and welfare.

In September 2017, an inquest into Sean's disappearance examined the probability that Sean had driven from the St Lucia party while intoxicated and accidentally plunged with his vehicle into the Brisbane River.

But the court heard the Queensland Police dive unit conducted extensive searches of the river in recent months – including examining submerged vehicles – and found no sign of the soldier.

The court also heard that in its recent inquiry, police approached a hydrographic surveyor at the Port of Brisbane to retrieve records of foreign objects located by sonar on the bottom of the Brisbane River.

A report revealed 3.2 million cubic meters of riverbed material was moved downstream and out to sea during the 2011 floods.

Port of Brisbane surveyors removed 159 items during the floods, including boats, pontoons, large trees, shipping containers, and water tanks. None of the items were cars.

“The chance that the vehicle would have moved down the river during the 2011/2013 floods would have been very high,” a surveyor’s report, submitted to the court, said.

Mr. Hutton told there was no real evidence of Mr. Sargent driving into the river.

To date, Sean remains missing, nor has his vehicle been located from police investigations.

At the time of his disappearance, Sean was described as standing 179cm tall with a medium build, brown hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion. Sean would now be aged 43 years old.

Military police reported Mr. Sargent missing three days later, on March 22, 1999, after he failed to report for duty at Enoggera Barracks.

However, civilian police only took one witness statement and didn't refer the case to the coroner until August 2015.
