Discovery of  New Mysterious City

In 1963,an underground city was discovered in Derinkuyu,a town and district of Nevisehir, Turkey. Despite research of many years, experts have not been able to unravel the mystery of this underground city.

A team of experts from around the world has long researched the mysterious underground city of Derinkuyu. Derinkuyu a town located in central region of the Turkish city of Nevşehir. People hoped that the research of experts would reveal the secrets of this mysterious city. But that did not happen.

The City of Giants

Named the "City of Giants" in Turkey, this underground city is one of the strangest and most mysterious areas in the world, discovered in 1963. Experts say Derenkuys's underground city of giants is even more mysterious than pyramids of Egypt. Experts are unable to say how the city was built. The mysterious city was discovered while a local man was digging to build his house when a huge rock came out. When the stone was removed, there was a ladder under it, which went to the depths of the earth. The citizen himself did not dare to enter the stairs. When he told the local authorities about it, the authorities allotted land to the man in another place and declared the place official.

Later, when the local experts came down the stairs, their amazement ceased when they saw a vast city. The city has been under investigation since its discovery. The well-known Anatolian Empire was once located in the same province in which Turkey's underground city is located.

Experts say Derenkuys's city of giants is city if surprises. Modern research shows that the city was built in the seventh century BC. The city also has buildings eleven floors below ground level. The lowest floors are located at a depth of 85 meters.

Why Mysterious?

The abandoned city also had livestock, stables, synagogues, warehouses, markets, and a distillery. The inhabitants of this city had taken full care of all the necessities of life. In addition to the small synagogues on each floor, there was also a central synagogue, which was built down the stairs to the second floor.

Population and How People Lived

Experts say 35,000 to 50,000 people lived in the city in an orderly fashion. Large aerators were built at various places in the city for air circulation. When experts searched various parts of the city, they found large tunnels dug for air in eleven places, the mouths of which were closed with large stones. The mouths of these tunnels, more than 55 meters long, are located in places that are facing the wind so that the air can enter easily. In addition to these 11 large tunnels, experts have now found 15,000 holes protruding from the bottom. The holes for air and light were also closed with heavy stones.

Another City

Initially, the only way to enter the city was discovered, but later a search turned up several more gates. All these gates were closed with stones one to one and a half meters long and thirty to fifty centimeters wide. There wight was two to five hundred kilograms.

These stone doors were all locked from the inside. However, they were made in such a strange way that they were very easy to open. During the investigation, these heavy stone doors opened with the slightest push of a single person.

The inner part of the area chosen for the construction of the underground city consists of strong rocks. That's why experts say that cutting such large rocks and building a city is seemingly beyond human comprehension. This reinforces the locals' belief that the city was built by giants, so locals call it the "City of Giants".

According to experts, the construction of this city began in the seventh century BC. This was done by the giants of the Phrygians, a tribe living in Turkey at the time. Its construction was then completed during the Byzantine and Achaemenid empires.

Experts say there were more underground cities in the area and they were connected by tunnels.

Recent research has revealed that there was another underground city west of Derenkuys. An eight-kilometer-long tunnel was also found near Derenkuyu. Which leads to this newly discovered city. Research is also underway on this.

Experts say it is amazing that so many people live underground. What is even more shocking to experts is the construction of this city. Experts claim that the city was inhabited until the tenth century AD, after which it was closed for unknown reasons. Historians believe that for a long time people hid in the area to escape Roman forces and other tribal invaders, presumably who built the city underground.

The famous Greek historian and student of Aristotle Xenophon also mentioned this underground city in his book "Anabasis" in 4 BC:

"People living in Anatolia live in underground houses, the paths of which are like wells. But they go down and expand. Tunnels have been dug in the ground to transport the animals, but stairs have been built for humans. Goats, sheep, cows and poultry have been kept in the underground city.

The Zoroastrian history book Avesta Vendidad also mentions an underground city in the region, built by King Yima of Persia to house refugees. However, experts have not found any evidence in this regard.

No Human

Strange writings are also engraved on the various walls of the city, but the language is foreign to everyone. Experts are also surprised that there is no cemetery in such a large city and no human remains have been found.
