1st Murder of 2016 in New Orleans is still a mystery.

Joshua Woodruff, 28 from Omaha Nebraska was the first person murdered in New Orleans just a few hours into 2016.

Woodruff, a Harvard graduate was in New Orleans for his very first tour to the City to enjoy New Years''', sadly selecting New Orleans cost Woodruff his life, and the person(s) who did this have yet to be identified and charged.

Shortly after 03:00 am on January 1, 2016, Joshua Woodruff was standing at the corner of Decatur and Dumaine Street waiting for his taxi cab to pick him up when a black 4 door sedan with tinted windows ran over him, resulting in his body to become pinned under the car. Woodruff was dragged under the sedan for over 6 miles through the French Quarter where thousands of people were gathered to enjoy the new year.

Thousands of citizens were in the City for the 82nd Annual Sugar Bowl that was played later in the day at the Mercedes Benz Superdome with The University of Mississippi beating Oklahoma State University 48-20.

Over 100,000 celebrators and College Football Fans were out enjoying and yet no one has come forward with any evidence that could lead to the arrest of the driver of the Black Sedan that murdered Woodruff.

Woodruff is survived by his parents, Mark and Caren, his siblings, Heather and Ben, many other family members, and many friends. The Woodruff Family has been waiting five long years for explanations of who murdered their son. They have come back to New Orleans various times over the years and have put up Reward Money out of their own pockets and paid for Billboards requesting information of the murderer.

Five years have passed, guess about how long 5 years is;

It’s been

1,825 days

43,000 hours

2,628,000 minutes

157,680,00 seconds

That’s also 5 Christmas parties, 5 Thanksgiving’s, 5 Mothers Days, 5 Father's Days, 5 Birthdays without Josh, 5 Anniversary’s of Josh’s murder along with several other family events that Josh has missed and will never join again.

Please share this, it only takes one click and you may catch someone who knows something from that night. If you have friends who were out enjoying that night or if they were in town for the Sugar Bowl, share it with them. They may have the piece of the mystery that can help solve this case.

If you can’t share for whatever reason, then please say a prayer for the Woodruff Family today and pray that the person(s) responsible are charged.

“Think of this as your child, your child was dragged for over 6 miles, what would you want somebody to do for you?”

-Caren Woodruff, mother of Josh during a press conference after his murder.
