Travis Rodrigues was arrested Saturday for the death of his 2-year-old daughter Kytana Ancog.

She vanished on January 31, 2021, after her mother dropped her off at Rodrigues’ home in Aiea, Hawaii. Police also caught Scott Carter about the baby’s death, after he helped Travis Rodrigues suppress the crime.

CONFESSION from both TRAVIS RODRIGUES and SCOTT CARTER:

On February 13, 2021, a witness who was at Rodrigues’ house told investigators that she walked to Rodrigues’ bedroom and saw him punching his daughter and cursing at her.

“Shut the f*** up! Get out here!” The witness told the baby seemed petrified and ran to her for help. The witness then asked Rodrigues what was going on but the suspect hit the baby, causing her to fall to the ground. “F*** that baby,” Rodrigues said, adding that he had her for “three f******* days already.” The witness said Rodrigues then attempted to give the baby meth, contending that she liked it. The witness said she left the home but returned quickly after and noticed blood on the floor. Rodrigues said it was spilt chocolate. Nonetheless, the witness said she saw Kytana with abrasions and marks on her mouth and all over her body. When investigators interviewed Rodriques, he reportedly confessed that he hit, slapped, and cursed at the kid while under the effect of meth. He added that he started clasping her against his chest until she became lifeless. Rodrigues also confessed that he wasn’t certain if the baby was deceased, but he bandaged her in a blanket and put her in a duffle bag. He never called 911.

Scott Carter told investigators that Rodrigues asked for a ride to a friend’s home after the incident. Rodriques had the duffle bag with him with the baby’s corpse inside. When they reached the friend’s home, Rodrigues got out of the car while Scott Carter told him, “don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of it,” about the duffle bag. Rodriques ended up staying at the friend’s home as Carter drove off. Rodriques contends he has no idea where his daughter was taken to. Kitana's corpse has still not been discovered. Travis Rodrigues has been accused of second-degree murder and stays behind bars on a $2 million bond. Scott Carter has been accused of first-degree hindering prosecution. He remains behind bars on a $1 million bond. Travis Rodrigues is a sentenced felon with a vast criminal history that comprises offences for drugs and firearms.
