The girl in the Polaroid 

 

On the morning of September 20th 1988, in Belen New Mexico, 19-year-old Tara Calico got onto her pink bicycle to ride a 36-mile route. Tara was due to play tennis with her partner at 12:30 pm. When Tara didn’t return home after 12, her anxious mother decided to drive the way in her car to see if she could find her daughter. With no clues of Tara, her mother phoned the police to document her daughter missing. Her mum knew that something was very bad. Eyewitnesses saw a truck driving sceptically along with side Tara while she was riding her bike. Surveys went on for various weeks for Tara, however, she nor her bike have ever been discovered. Tara’s family was replenished with sorrow while they waited for some answers about what occurred to their daughter. The case was going cold until an infamous photo was found. 

In Port St. Joe Florida, almost 1500 miles from where Tara went missing, a woman saw a white van pull out of parking at an amenity store. She parked her car and when she got out of her car she saw something laying on the pavement. As she got nearer, she couldn’t believe her eyes. She reached down and grabbed a Polaroid photo that she thinks fell out of the white van that had left the parking lot.

The photo was of a young woman and young boy, both had duct-tape wrapping their mouths and their hands and feet bound. The photo seemed to be taken in the back of a windowless van. Law enforcement used the hit television show, dilemmas to show the photo, in hopes that someone could recognize the people in the photo. Ultimately, the photo was seen by Tara’s family. Due to the quality of the Polaroid and the angle of the woman, Tara’s family isn’t eligible to substantiate that the woman is Tara, nonetheless, after vastly examining the photo, Tara’s mother did believe it was her daughter in the Polaroid. She precisely points to a scar on the leg that looks the same as a scar that Tara got when she was in a car accident. Various investigative agencies and experts have enhanced and studied the photo. 

They are not eligible to agree on an answer. Since this Polaroid was discovered, two others were found that were brought to Tara’s family’s scrutiny. There is less evidence known about these photos, nonetheless, Tara’s mother believes it is Tara in one photo. And the pillow in the photo looks like it could be the same as in the earlier Polaroid. The last Polaroid discovered was supposed to be a prank. 

Although many people do think it was Tara in the Polaroid, most people, comprising law enforcement do not believe it was Tara. Law enforcement thinks Tara was murdered by someone In their hometown. Many believe there is an enormous cover-up and that numerous men were involved in the kidnapping and killing. 

 

Tara’s parents never stopped searching for her until they passed away. Some believe Tara could still be alive. Some believe she never left her hometown in New Mexico. What do you think?
