Murder Of Sonia

Timeline:

Sunday, August 29, 2010 - Sonia, a woman in her early 40's, goes to her parent's house near Bolton ON about 25-30 mins away from where she lives. She then is doubted to go straight home.

Monday, August 30, 2010 - Sonia does not show up for work. She is a Nurse at the local hospital. It is unlike her to not show up for work without a phone call.

- A white Toyota Corolla registered to Sonia Varaschin is found behind Orangeville ON town hall. Blood is smeared on the rear bumper. The front door and trunk are left open.

- Police interrogate her home on Spring Street Orangeville and find a substantial amount of blood but nobody was found. There were no signs of forced entry.

- That same afternoon, Sonia's family reports that she is missing, this launches an official search to find Sonia Varaschin.

Friday, September 3, 2010 - Lead detective Det.Insp. Mark Pritchard holds a press conference. He explains that they are looking for beige or cream-colored bed sheets that are missing from the crime scene. They are believing that these sheets will be covered in blood.

Sunday, September 5, 2010 - Someone walking their dog along a wooded area on Beechgrove rd in Caledon discovers human remains. The body is recognized to be Sonia Varaschin.

Wednesday, September 8, 2010 - Another press conference is held by Det.Insp Pritchard. He claims to have found the missing bed sheets but does not specify how they were found. He also goes on to say that the suspect was likely wearing size 10-11 Dakota or Wind River work boots.

Speculation:

It is supposed that the culprit knows the area well enough to navigate from Sonia's house in Orangeville to the sideroad on the outskirts of Caledon to dump her body. The murder weapon was never released nor was her cause of death. Although, many assume she was bludgeoned. Her body was unrecognizable when found and there was a substantial amount of blood. There was some assumption that her killer was someone she had met online. Sonia was active on a few dating websites. DNA was recovered from the scene and MANY people had to give samples but none were a match. There are no leads on who the killer is.

The Town Gossip:

I'd like to mention again that much of this is town gossip. There is no proof of any of this being proof.

As I've mentioned, I have a few connections to this case. Sonia Varaschin lived just a few blocks from my sister's house. The body was found beside a very close friend's house. The police took his and his father's DNA for further investigation. Sonia also treated many people at the hospital where she worked, any male over the age of 18 was asked to give DNA samples. Detectives were reported to take over 600 DNA samples from the locals of Orangeville, ON. This included many of my friends and their fathers. People have theorized that Sonia met the culprit off Plenty of Fish (a dating website) and invited him to her house where they had some sort of altercation or disagreement. It is thought that someone had found the blood-stained sheets in a nearby dumpster but this was never confirmed.

Discussion:

So that's it! There are no leads. No witnesses who saw whoever did this drive from point A (Sonia's house) to point B (Beechgrove road/dumping site) to point C (Orangeville townhall)

Did he leave the car at the town hall so it would be found effortlessly? Could this mean he felt remorse for what he had done:?

Where did the police find the blood-stained sheets? What was the murdering weapon? What was her cause of death?
