How does one move on in life, when a part of you is missing? Each day a heartache of not knowing...

A song playing on the radio, a whiff of perfume, a beautiful flower - reminders in every day of a loved one so dearly missed.

A dearly loved daughter is deeply missed by her father, a devoted mother missed by her children, a dedicated friend missed by all who knew her.

Carmel Giannasca (nee La Spina) has been missing 19 years.... 19 years of hoping and praying by her family they will finally have the answers they have longed for.

Carmel's family and friends appeal to anyone with ANY information to PLEASE come forward...

32-year-old Carmel Louise Giannasca was last seen by her husband at approximately 7 am Monday 14th January 2002 when she walked out of her home in Gladesville Sydney NSW.

The young mother of two children had allegedly argued with her husband before packing some suitcases, taking some money, and departing the family home in a green Holden Commodore. When her husband reported her missing to police three weeks after she left the family home, he said he believed she was on her way to see her father in Mackay Queensland.

However, Carmel has not made contact with her family or friends, nor has she made any attempts to contact her children. It is completely out of character for Carmel, as her father used to receive phone calls from her daily.

Carmel's vehicle was later located in Parkway Avenue, Merewether (Newcastle) and a witness states seeing a man leave the car after a grey-haired man in his 50's drove up in a silver ford falcon and speak briefly to each other. The grey-haired man left in his vehicle whilst the man in Carmel's vehicle got out and walked away.

Carmel's bank accounts have not been accessed in the time since her disappearance, and her mobile phone was disconnected not long after she left her home.

Police suspect foul play is involved in Carmel's disappearance, her husband, the main suspect, was acquitted of her murder as there was not enough evidence to charge him with her disappearance and suspected death.

At the time of her disappearance, Carmel was described as standing 175cm tall with a slim build and olive complexion, Carmel has black hair and brown eyes. Carmel would now be aged 50 years old.

Despite extensive police investigations, Carmel remains missing. Are you able to provide police with information that may assist them to locate her? Please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if you know anything.
