Brianna Ghey: Boy And Girl Arrested Over Warrington Park Killing

Two teenagers have been arrested after a girl was found with fatal stab wounds in a Cheshire park on Saturday.


A 16-year-old girl named Brianna Ghey from Birchwood, Warrington, was discovered by local residents suffering from wounds on a path in Linear Park, Culcheth. Emergency services were summoned but unfortunately,

she was declared dead at the scene by Cheshire Constabulary. The police have arrested two suspects, a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, both from the surrounding area, on suspicion of committing murder.

 

Police said on Sunday evening that a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, both from the local area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are currently in custody assisting police with their investigation.

 

Previously, the police force was searching for two individuals who were spotted near the location where the body was discovered. They were described as a young white man and woman with dark curly hair, both estimated to be in their late teens or early twenties.

On the previous day, the male individual was observed wearing a dark hooded coat that reached down to his feet. The female, on the other hand, was wearing a red or purple and black checkered blanket-style coat with a long bottom hem that could have been a skirt, dress, or trousers.


Detective Chief Superintendent Mike Evans stated that the attack on the 16-year-old girl was "truly awful" and resulted in the loss of her life at such a young age. He added that several investigations are underway to determine the precise details of the incident, and the police are making every effort to uncover what occurred.

“At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that the circumstances surrounding Brianna’s death are hate related.


"In response to the incident, police patrols have been increased in the surrounding area and officers will continue to be present in Culcheth to provide comfort and address any worries that local residents might have."

 


The police have appealed to the public for any information that may aid the investigation. Detective Chief Superintendent Mike Evans also requested individuals and businesses in the community to review their CCTV or dashcam recordings. 


The family of Brianna has been informed of the situation, and a post-mortem examination by the Home Office is currently underway.
