Britain's Most Evil Predator Met The Same End As His Victims

Richard Huckle, a notorious pedophile who sexually abused around 200 children, was killed by a fellow inmate who stated that he committed the act as an act of "poetic justice." Huckle had been sentenced to 22 life sentences for his despicable actions, earning him the title of the United Kingdom's worst pedophile.

The abhorrent photographer masqueraded as a "devout Christian" and would travel overseas to sexually assault children in underprivileged areas, with some being as young as six months old. Huckle's monstrous offenses were so appalling that even his parents pleaded with authorities to imprison him indefinitely, according to the Stoke Sentinel.

However, the monster ended up only serving a fraction of his sentence after inmate Paul Fitzgerald murdered him in a 'prolonged attack designed to humiliate and degrade him' at HMP Full Sutton on October, 13 2019. Before his death, there had been uproar that his sentence was too lenient and fears were rising that he could be released within his lifetime.

Huckle, born on May 14, 1986, grew up in Ashford, Kent, and had an unremarkable family life, making it challenging to understand why he engaged in such heinous behavior. Referred to as the 'gap year pedophile,' Huckle is believed to have sexually abused around 200 children while traveling overseas.

During his school days, Huckle was considered a "somewhat solitary" individual, but his friends didn't notice anything particularly unusual about him. Following his education, Huckle pursued a career as a TEFL (Teacher of English as a Second Language) instructor and, like many others, combined this with his passion for traveling.

Huckle's criminal behavior commenced at a relatively young age, during his nineteen-year-old gap year travels across the globe. Over a nine-year span, the repeated sex offender perpetrated heinous acts of sexual assault on girls, boys, toddlers, and even an infant who was just six months old.

Huckle adopted the guise of a travel photographer and used it as a cover to take explicit photographs of the children he sexually abused. He then proceeded to sell these images to other individuals with a similar deviant inclination. Huckle was so brazen that he boasted about his heinous activities to other pedophiles, even penning a 60-page manual on sexual abuse, which he titled 'Pedophiles & Poverty: Child Lover Guide'.

In it, he wrote: "I'd hit the jackpot, a three-year-old girl as loyal to me as my dog and nobody seemed to care." He bragged online: "Impoverished kids are definitely much, much easier to seduce than middle-class Western kids."

While on a trip to Cambodia in 2006, Huckle perpetrated a series of rapes on two sisters, aged four and six, in a calculated and methodical manner. Following his time in Vietnam and Cambodia, he relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2011, where he enrolled as a student at the Metropolitan University.

While in Malaysia, Huckle was able to gain entry to orphanages and schools, presenting himself as a freelance photographer. He gained the trust of the staff in charge of the children and, once that was established, he would select the most vulnerable children and take them out for the day or offer to tutor them in English or photography.

Huckle kept records of the scale of abuse inflicted upon each of his young victims, and based on these sickening notes, law enforcement officials have estimated that he targeted approximately 200 children. In December 2014, Huckle returned to the UK to spend the Christmas holidays with his family but was arrested as part of a vast international operation. This led to his eventual capture and prosecution.

Huckle informed his fellow child abusers that he would be unavailable during the Christmas period, but upon his return to the UK, he was apprehended at Gatwick Airport. Despite being a twisted rapist, Huckle was released on bail because he had no prior criminal record.

After initially denying all allegations to his parents, Huckle later made a drunken confession to his family about engaging in child abusing.

After his parents discovered his heinous acts, they were appalled and immediately notified the authorities. This led to Huckle's second arrest.

On January 6, 2016, Huckle appeared before the Old Bailey for an initial hearing and pleaded not guilty to 91 charges related to child abuse. Detectives who investigated the case found that advanced encoding techniques had kept the bulk of the evidence hidden on Huckle's laptop, with only a small portion of the abuse accessible to them.

During a preliminary trial hearing in April 2016, Huckle admitted to being guilty of 71 of the 91 charges that were brought against him. On June 6 of the same year, he was held accountable for the immense suffering and trauma he had caused to numerous victims. The judge declared a sentence of 22 life imprisonment, with a minimum of 25 years to be served before he would become eligible for parole. Throughout the proceedings, Huckle remained standing, his hands clasped together in prayer.

Huckle's sentence was cut short when he was discovered dead in his cell on October 13, 2019, at the age of 33. He had been brutally attacked by another inmate, Paul Fitzgerald, in a 78-minute assault. Fitzgerald stated that he wanted Huckle to experience the same pain and suffering that he had inflicted upon his victims, ultimately resulting in Huckle's demise.

Shockingly, Fitzgerald revealed that he had contemplated cooking and consuming parts of Huckle's body, and even expressed a desire to kill additional inmates but was "having too much fun." He bound Huckle, sexually assaulted him, and then strangled him with such force that his own hands required medical attention. Fitzgerald continued his brutal attack by beating and stabbing Huckle in the neck.

According to reports, Fitzgerald inserted a pen so deeply into Huckle's nostril that it pierced his bone and penetrated his brain. During his trial, Mr. Justice Lavender described Fitzgerald as a psychopath and stated that he had intended to sexually assault and murder Huckle, with the additional disturbing intention of potentially cooking and consuming parts of his body.

Huckle's crimes began as a teenager after he left Kent to travel abroad for a gap year at nineteen-years-old

Mr. Justice Lavender addressed Fitzgerald during his sentencing, stating that the attack on Huckle was purely for his own enjoyment and to enact what he deemed "poetic justice" upon a convicted child abuser. The violent assault persisted for over an hour and 15 minutes, ultimately resulting in Huckle's death or near death. Fitzgerald later stated that he had become carried away with the pleasure he was experiencing from carrying out the attack.

During the trial at Hull Crown Court, it was revealed that Fitzgerald had been diagnosed with an anti-social personality disorder and had a history of violent and sexual offenses that began when he was just 13 years old. The judge acknowledged that the only factor in Fitzgerald's favor was his mental health issues, which were attributed to the physical and sexual abuse he endured during his childhood.

During the sentencing hearing, Fitzgerald was present via video link from the prison, sporting a shaved head and a lengthy goatee beard while wearing rosary beads. He appeared unperturbed by the proceedings, frequently yawning, laughing, and stretching his arms, even as the judge handed down his life sentence.
