More than 10 years after a woman was found shot to death inside her home, Kokomo police finally have two suspects in custody.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on February 7, 2013, a shooting was reported in the 800 block of James Drive, prompting officers from the Kokomo Police Department to respond. Upon arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Destiny Renee Pittman in an unconscious and unresponsive state. Unfortunately, she later passed away as a result of her injuries.

During the initial phase of their investigation, department investigators became aware of a potential link between Pittman's death and a home invasion. According to their findings, two individuals carrying weapons may have entered the residence unlawfully and when Pittman confronted them, she was shot.

As a result of the investigation, the police were able to identify Joey McCartney, 32, and Jesse McCartney, 36, as suspects in the case. On Thursday, the Kokomo Police Department, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service, executed arrest warrants and several search warrants.

At approximately 6 a.m., Joey was apprehended by U.S. Marshals at a residence in Graham, Kentucky. Roughly two hours later, officers and U.S. Marshals arrested Jesse at a residence in Kokomo.

Both men face a murder charge. Anyone who may have additional information regarding the case is encouraged to contact the Kokomo Police Department at 765-456-7017.
