Mother 'chose her lover over her little girl' and turned a blind eye as she was murdered: Fury as mum is locked up for just three years after drug addict boyfriend beat Lola James, two, to death

According to reports, Lola James' stepfather Kyle Bevan caused her "catastrophic" brain injuries that were comparable to those seen in victims of car accidents.

The mother of two-year-old Lola James has been sentenced to three years in prison for allowing her partner to murder her daughter. Lola's stepfather, Kyle Bevan, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 28 years.

Evil Kyle Bevan was sentenced to life imprisonment.

While Lola's mother was asleep, Bevan caused "catastrophic" brain injuries to the child, which were likened to those sustained by victims of car accidents. Lola had over 100 scratches and bruises on her body and suffered extensive damage to both eyes. After four days in intensive care, Lola tragically passed away in the hospital, according to reports in the Mirror.

In a recent trial at Swansea Crown Court, 30-year-old Sinead James was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of her daughter, while her partner Kyle Bevan, 31, was convicted of murder. Bevan had denied causing harm to Lola and instead claimed that the family dog was responsible for pushing her down the stairs, causing her injuries.

At the court hearing, Lola's father, Daniel Thomas, made a statement in which he described the brutal attack on his daughter, saying that she wasn't just taken from him in the worst way possible, but her tiny body was savaged in the evilest way and she never stood a chance. Meanwhile, Lola's grandmother, Nicola James, addressed Bevan directly during the hearing.

"Kyle, you took the young innocent life of my granddaughter. At the same time, you have taken so much more than you can imagine. You killed my Lola and you have broken her family. I hope the time you have now you can understand what you have done."

During sentencing today, Mr. Justice Griffiths declared that he was convinced that Sinead James knew that her daughter Lola was not safe around Kyle Bevan at the time of the murder. As a result, he sentenced her to six years in prison, of which she will serve three behind bars under current regulations.

The judge further stated that Bevan's attack on Lola was a sustained, deliberate, and violent act, which involved the use of weapons. He also noted that the assault was an exercise of power over a helpless child, the only person Bevan could feel superior to.

The judge noted that Bevan had shown no remorse for his actions and had only demonstrated concern for himself throughout the proceedings. The judge concluded that the fatal assault was the culmination of months of physical abuse inflicted on Lola by Bevan.

Bevan remained emotionless as he was sentenced. On the other hand, James was tearful throughout the hearing, particularly when she heard her mother's victim impact statement, and cried when she was sentenced.

Bevan had moved in with James in February 2020, only a few days after meeting her. During this time, Lola was left in Bevan's care and sustained a number of injuries, including a damaged nose, black eyes, and a cut lip.

Bevan, who was known to be a heavy user of the drug Spice, proceeded to carry out a "murderous" attack on Lola after staying up late with her and taking pictures of her on Snapchat.

Sinead James will spend three years behind bars for allowing her daughter to be murdered.

He had taken pictures of the marks on Lola's back and extensive swelling and bruising on her head, eyes, and lips. In a disturbing video, he sent to his mother, Bevan was seen picking up Lola's lifeless body, trying to make her stand on her feet before letting her fall to the ground, saying: "She's gone."
Bevan waited until almost 7:30 am to ask his mother to call for an ambulance for Lola, having only woken James up at about 7:20 am.

Lola's body had more than 100 scratches and bruises, and extensive damage to both her eyes. Her brain injuries were comparable to those found in car crash victims.

James was awoken by Bevan, who claimed that Lola had fallen down the stairs and showed her a piece of the little girl's tongue on his finger.

Upon finding her daughter unresponsive on the sofa, James called 999 in tears. She informed the operators that Lola's face appeared swollen, and she was "really scared".

During Lola's hospitalization, Bevan became aggressive towards doctors who questioned him about her injuries, even though she was in a life-threatening condition.

Text messages from Bevan to James showed him repeatedly blaming their American bulldog, Jessie, for the incident, and questioning James about what she was going to tell the police.

The court heard that Bevan frequently used Xanax, Valium, and cannabis and that both he and James took amphetamines while their children were at James' mother's house. Bevan had previously caused damage to the house while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Lola’s father Daniel Thomas said
"Lola didn’t just die, wasn’t just taken from me in the worst way ever possible, she was brutally attacked - her tiny body was savaged in the evilest way, she didn’t stand a chance. Lola’s little life was filled with filth and chaos at the hands of her mother who couldn’t even provide her with basic safety in her own home."

Pembrokeshire County Council has confirmed that they will conduct a child practice review in response to the tragic death of Lola.
