The partner of a pregnant teacher who was found dead in Glasgow has been found dead himself. The body of David Yates believed to be 36 years old, was discovered in Mugdock Reservoir on April 27. Marelle Sturrock, aged 35, was found dead at her home on Jura Street in Glasgow on April 25. The police have confirmed that they suspect Yates was Sturrock's partner.

Although the body has not yet been formally identified, it is suspected to be that of David Yates. His white Seat Ateca was discovered in the car park of Mugdock Country Park in East Dumbartonshire on Tuesday, prompting extensive searches of the area.

Yates was being sought in relation to the murder of Marelle Sturrock, who was 29 weeks pregnant when she was killed. Tragically, her unborn baby did not survive.

The investigation into Marelle Sturrock's murder is still ongoing, and at present, there is no evidence to indicate the involvement of any other individual in her death. The police will submit reports to the Procurator Fiscal at an appropriate time.

Detective Superintendent Nicola Kilbane expressed her condolences, stating that the police's thoughts are with Marelle's loved ones and everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.

“We are providing her family with specialist support at this incredibly difficult time.”
