Police Officer Rescues Kidnapped Woman with Two Simple Words During Traffic Stop

In a remarkable incident, a courageous police officer swiftly intervened to rescue a woman who had reportedly been abducted, all because of a cleverly executed plea for help. Kayla Wallace, an officer serving with the North Myrtle Beach Police Department in South Carolina, displayed exceptional alertness when she initiated a traffic stop on May 28.

The targeted vehicle, a white jeep, had blatantly run a red light, prompting her action. As Officer Wallace approached the driver's side, she noticed the woman inside exhibiting clear signs of distress, causing her to swiftly take action.

Upon closer inspection, the situation took a startling turn when the woman bravely disclosed the presence of Collins Bates, a 29-year-old individual, seated in the passenger seat. Shockingly, she revealed that Bates had purportedly abducted her at gunpoint following a violent shooting incident.

In her comprehensive police report, Officer Wallace detailed her swift response, stating that she issued firm commands for the woman to close her door promptly. It was during this critical moment that Bates, too, unexpectedly opened his door and claimed that the windows were incapable of rolling down.

‘The driver then told me that she felt like she was going to throw up.’ According to police, the female silently mouthed ‘help me’ multiple times when she opened the door.

In a Facebook post, the North Myrtle Beach Police Department shared a compelling account of the incident. According to their statement, while the male passenger was momentarily distracted and not looking at the driver, the courageous woman silently mouthed the words "Help Me" multiple times. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Officer Kayla Wallace promptly detained Mr. Collins Bates in the rear of her patrol car. 

Following this action, Officer Wallace returned to the woman, who disclosed the alarming revelation that Bates had recently committed a shooting and subsequently forced her to drive away at gunpoint. Officer Pat Wilkinson, who assisted in the case, clarified that the initial traffic stop was unrelated to the shooting, as she had no prior knowledge of the incident until that moment. 

As a response, a "be on the lookout" alert was promptly issued to notify other officers and agencies about the situation.

The alert disseminated detailed information regarding a shooting that had occurred in the vicinity, involving a white Jeep. Remarkably, the description of the suspect provided in the alert perfectly matched the appearance of Mr. Collins Bates. This crucial information prompted a swift response from the police, who promptly proceeded to the scene and successfully apprehended the suspect, bringing him into custody.

The suspect faces charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with a shooting.

The police also discovered a pistol underneath the passenger seat of the car, according to their report. The North Myrtle Beach Police Department commended Officer Kayla Wallace for her swift actions, especially considering that the incident occurred during the last thirty minutes of her shift. They expressed gratitude for her proactive patrolling, which led to the arrest of a shooting suspect and the recovery of an illegally carried firearm. The department and the community acknowledged Officer Wallace's exceptional work, with locals on Facebook suggesting she should be recognized and rewarded for her outstanding performance.

Another individual commented, expressing their admiration, saying, "Way to go!!! It's rare to see someone being pulled over for running a red light these days. I'm truly proud of her for what she did today. Her actions likely saved that lady's life."
