An Indianapolis man has been charged in relation to an armed robbery that took place in May. Interestingly, on the same day as the incident, it is reported that he asked the same woman out on Facebook.

31-year-old Damien Boyce was charged last Wednesday with armed robbery and unlawful carrying of a firearm by a felon, according to court documents. Boyce was also arrested and charged with another robbery that occurred in early June.

On May 8, at approximately 9 p.m., the Indianapolis police received a call to investigate an armed robbery that occurred at a residence near Harlan Street and East Raymond Street on the near southwest side of the city. Officers arrived at the scene and spoke with the woman who had experienced the robbery. She confirmed the incident, and a case report was filed.

According to court documents, the reported robbery occurred on May 8 at approximately 4 a.m. The woman had just returned home from work and was retrieving items from her mailbox when she noticed a man approaching her.

The victim stated that after a brief exchange of words, Boyce pulled out a gun and threatened to "break into her residence."

In response, she informed Boyce that there was nothing valuable inside her house but mentioned having money in her car. Reluctantly, she handed him approximately $100 in cash that she had received as tips from work. While still pointing the gun at her, Boyce proceeded to inquire if she had a boyfriend.

After the incident, Boyce disclosed his name to the woman and requested that she add him as a friend on Facebook. He then quickly left the scene on his bike. Surprisingly, Boyce later accepted the friend request and began messaging the woman. Initially, the victim did not file a report with the police. However, after discussing the situation with her boyfriend, she decided to report the incident.

According to court documents, investigators obtained a search warrant to review the conversations between Boyce and the woman that took place on May 8 through Facebook. During their exchange, Boyce asked the woman out on a date. He expressed remorse, stating, "For real, I feel bad that we had to meet under those circumstances... Come hang out with me, I promise I'm not looking for trouble."

In response, the woman informed Boyce that she had a boyfriend and expressed her inability to engage in the requested activity.

Boyce's arrest occurred when officers discovered him at the site of another reported robbery, which took place around 8:30 p.m. on June 11 near Palmer Street on the near southeast side of the city. Subsequently, he was apprehended and placed under police custody.

Boyce faces charges of armed robbery, specifically taking property by force, classified as a Level 3 Felony. Additionally, he is charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun, considering his prior conviction within the last 15 years, which is classified as a Level 5 Felony. A pretrial conference hearing is scheduled for July 5 at 10 a.m.
