In the early hours of the morning, a devastating discovery was made by four young boys near a cemetery. They came across the lifeless body of Katie, who had been stripped of her clothes and subjected to horrifying acts of violence.

Tragically, Katie had suffered multiple stab wounds, including those inflicted on her ribs, signifying the brutality of the attack. Shockingly, the assailant had also inserted knives into her vagina and anus.

Katie’s killer wrote;

“I wish I could kill you again. I promise I’d make you suffer more. Your terrified screams turned me on.”

Katie Rackliff, an eighteen-year-old girl from Britain, was a lively and optimistic individual with ambitious dreams. She had a great passion for hairdressing.

Recently, Katie had experienced a breakup with her first serious boyfriend, which caused her immense heartache.

Katie was a fun-loving and outgoing girl who enjoyed spending time with friends, dressing up, and going to clubs. But after her breakup, she started isolating herself at home, which was unlike her usual self.

Her friend noticed this change and wanted to help Katie feel better. So, she urged Katie to step out of the house and have some fun to distract her from the heartbreak.

Katie decided to visit a nearby nightclub called Ragamuffins in Camberley, hoping to have a good time. However, to her surprise, she ran into her ex-boyfriend at the club.

Curiosity and a glimmer of hope led Katie to ask him if there was a possibility of reconciling their relationship. Unfortunately, she soon discovered that her ex-boyfriend had already moved on and had brought his new girlfriend to the club that evening.

Overwhelmed with emotions, Katie became upset and couldn't handle the situation. She hastily left the club, running into the dark streets alone.

Tragically, it proved to be an ill-fated choice, as Katie would never be seen alive again.

When Katie's friend couldn't locate her and had to go home, she had no idea of the heartbreaking news she would receive the following day, on June 7, 1992.

A group of four boys made a horrific discovery near a cemetery in Farnborough—a naked and mutilated body. The police were alerted immediately, and they swiftly responded to the distressing scene.
The Murder

The victim was later identified as Katie Rackliff, confirming the heartbreaking news.

During the autopsy, it was determined that Katie had suffered a total of thirty-two stab wounds. These brutal injuries included stabbings to her liver, stomach, lungs, and heart. Additionally, intentional wounds were inflicted on her vagina and anus.

In a distressing turn of events, the jewelry that Katie had been wearing was stolen.

The nature of Katie's wounds indicated that a knife with a blade length of approximately 6.5 to 7 inches had been used in the tragic incident.

The police conducted a thorough search of the cemetery, hoping to find any clues that could lead them to Katie's killer. They believed the perpetrator to be a man in his twenties or thirties, someone strong and driven by sexual motivations, displaying sadistic tendencies.

Numerous male suspects were interviewed by the police in their pursuit of justice. The unresolved murder of Katie garnered significant media coverage, featuring on Crime Watch, and a reward of £10,000 was offered to anyone who could provide information leading to the capture of the murderer.

Despite all the efforts made, unfortunately, the investigation into Katie's murder yielded no results. Her case eventually grew cold, with no further progress in finding her killer.

On June 7, 1994, the police received a distressing report of an incident at a school involving a thirteen-year-old girl named Ann-Marie Clifford. It was reported that another student, Sharon Louise Carr, had assaulted her.

Clifford entered the school toilets, followed closely by Sharon. Shockingly, Sharon raised her right arm and swiftly stabbed Clifford in the back with a four-inch blade. The knife punctured Clifford's lung, causing her to collapse onto the floor. Disturbingly, Sharon appeared to be smiling and displaying a sense of happiness while carrying out the attack.

Fortunately, the assault was interrupted when other students entered the toilets and intervened, putting an end to the violence.

Following the incident, Sharon was taken to an assessment center for a psychological evaluation, where it was revealed that she suffered from mental instability. Disturbingly, she had also engaged in attacks on witnesses and even attempted to strangle staff members.

As a result, Sharon was found guilty of the assault on Clifford, as well as the attacks on the staff members. She received a sentence of detention at Her Majesty's pleasure, reflecting the seriousness of her actions.

Despite her detainment, Sharon issued a warning, emphasizing that she should not be underestimated. Initially placed in various psychiatric hospitals, she continued to assault other women on a regular basis. Consequently, a decision was made to transfer her to an all-boys unit, leading to her relocation to Bullwood Hall's young offenders' institution.

Sharon started boasting to fellow inmates, prison staff, and her family about successfully committing Katie's murder. Eventually, the information reached the police.

In an effort to gather evidence, authorities seized Sharon's diary. The diary contained disturbing sketches of various weapons, including knives that she claimed to have used in Katie's murder. Furthermore, the diary contained highly explicit and violent content, which would be shocking even from an adult, let alone a young person.

Sharon’s Murderous Diary Entries

1. Nasty thoughts through the night. Pure jealousy makes me want to fight.

2. Killing for me is a mass turn-on, and it makes me so high I never want to come down.

3. Last night, it occurred to me that killing her did me good. I know what I’m capable of and will do it again.

4. Oh damn, I’ve got a taste for red rum, and God, I want to get drunk.

5. I enjoyed putting the blade up her. It made me feel powerful. I had to overcome her serenity, her security.

6. Killed KR. Death by knife wounds and sex go together.

7. I wish I could kill you again. I promise I’d make you suffer more. Your terrified screams turned me on.

8. I bring a knife into her chest. Her eyes are closing. She is pleading with me, so I bring the knife to her again and again.
I don't want to harm her, but I feel compelled to inflict violence upon her. I want to disrupt her beauty, peace, and sense of safety.

In my mind, I can visualize her face at the moment of her death. I can sense her life slowly slipping away, hearing her struggling for breath. I imagine her throat tightening, preventing air from reaching her lungs.

Throughout her life, breathing came naturally to her, but in this moment, it ceases. Strangely, I find joy in this realization.

I identify myself as a killer. Taking lives is what I do, and I am successful at it.

During the investigation, it came to light that Sharon resided in close proximity to the location where Katie was murdered. However, there was a significant obstacle in considering her involvement—Sharon was only twelve years old when the crime occurred, making it difficult to believe she could have carried out such a vicious attack.

Curiously, Sharon possessed knowledge of key details about Katie's case that had not been disclosed to the public. She mentioned that there were barking dogs near the scene of the murder and admitted to taking Katie's bracelet before leaving her lifeless body.

These specific pieces of information had intentionally been withheld by the police, raising suspicions about Sharon's potential connection to the crime.

As the investigators delved into Sharon's history and upbringing, they uncovered a deeply troubled background. Sharon was raised in an extremely abusive household, where her mother subjected her to burns from cigarettes, and her stepfather physically assaulted her. Additionally, Sharon had no knowledge of her biological father.

Her life was marked by severe poverty and hunger, enduring significant hardships. At a young age, Sharon turned to a path of delinquency, engaging in theft, vandalizing public property, and becoming involved in the buying, selling, and use of drugs. Disturbingly, she also became involved in practicing Voodoo, resorting to the sacrifice of numerous cats and dogs.

It became evident that Sharon received assistance from adults during the crime. However, the men she implicated as her accomplices had verifiable alibis.

Sharon was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, a condition that combines symptoms of schizophrenia and mood disorders. She faced charges for Katie's murder and was ultimately found guilty in March 1997, becoming the youngest female murderer in Britain's history. The court imposed an unlimited sentence with a minimum requirement of fourteen years.

Subsequently, Sharon's sentence was extended due to ongoing concerns about her potential danger to the public. She continues to receive treatment and medication while residing in a mental health hospital.
