Colorado Springs police have stated that it has been 37 years since 7-month-old Christopher Abeyta was found missing from his crib. Sadly, the baby has never been seen again

On July 15, 1986, at a location near Quail Lake in the southern part of Colorado Springs, specifically in the 3300 block of Ashwood Circle, a significant event occurred. Police received a report of a missing child around 6:30 a.m. that day. Upon their arrival, they discovered that 7-month-old Christopher Abeyta had been last seen in his crib around 12:30 a.m.

According to his family, when they woke up, Christopher was no longer in his crib. In 2013, the family offered a reward of $100,000 for any information regarding Abeyta's abduction. This update on the case was reported by KDVR, a sister station of FOX21 in Denver, as part of their continued coverage on unsolved cases in Colorado.

Tragically, Christopher's mother, Bernice Abeyta, lost her battle with cancer in 2017. His father, Gil, also passed away from a heart attack in 2020. These details were reported by KDVR. In 2018, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children released an age-progression photo of Abeyta. Using family photographs and advanced technology, they created an image depicting how Christopher might appear at the age of 32.

In February 2019, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) conducted DNA testing on three individuals who believed they could potentially be the missing boy, Christopher Abeyta. The DNA samples were tested between August and October of the same year. Unfortunately, none of the samples matched Christopher's DNA profile.

Now $200,000 is offered for information to the arrest and conviction of  Christopher Abeyta's abductor.

The Colorado Springs Police have classified the circumstances surrounding Christopher's disappearance as suspicious. If you possess any information regarding this case, please contact the police at 719-444-7000.
