The case of a missing woman in Maryland has changed to a murder investigation.

Rachel Morin, who is 37 years old, was last spotted alive on Saturday evening around 6 p.m. She had gone for a walk on a nature trail in Bel Air, Maryland. Her boyfriend was the one who informed the authorities that she was not around.

Later on, they found Morin's car at the entrance to the trail on Williams Street, but there was no sign of her.

A bit past 1 p.m. on Sunday, the Harford County Sheriff's Office announced that they found a woman's body near the Ma and Pa Trail.

Although an official confirmation of the body's identity will come from a medical examiner, the sheriff's office is quite certain that it is Morin.

Sheriff Gahler mentioned that even though they're quite sure the body is Rachel Morin's, the final confirmation must come from the medical examiner, and that hasn't occurred yet.

Gahler also noted that there are clear signs in Morin's case that leave no doubt that it's being treated as a homicide.

Right now, the authorities don't have anyone they think might be involved in the investigation as a potential suspect. They mentioned that there will be more police around the Ma and Pa Trail.

On the same Saturday, a different woman named Karen Elliott, who is 58 years old, also disappeared in Bel Air. She was last seen going into a wooded area behind Cypress Drive. The sheriff's office emphasized that this case is entirely separate from Morin's death.

If anyone has details about either of these cases, they're encouraged to contact the Harford County Sheriff's Office at 410-836-5430.
