Megan Imirowicz, a Michigan teen who fatally doused her father with chemical drain cleaner because he was too drunk to take her to a hair appointment, was freed from jail after spending just over 500 days behind bars.

Imirowicz was looking at spending her whole life in prison because of what happened to her father, Konrad Imirowicz, who was 64 years old. The Oakland Press told the story. In March 2021, she put lye powder on him while he was asleep, which caused very bad burns. He had to go to the hospital, where he lost both his legs and got many infections. He needed a tracheotomy, skin grafts, and kidney dialysis to try to get better.

Sadly, he only lived for about five more months before he died because of his injuries.

Following a trial that lasted four days in June, Imirowicz was determined to be guilty of causing death by using harmful devices/irritants.

Prosecutors stated that on the day of the attack, Imirowicz had a fight with her father. He had been drinking and couldn't drive her to a hair salon appointment, which was set right before her 18th birthday celebration. A few hours later, one of her friends discovered him, and he was quickly taken to Ascension Genesys Hospital.

It's said that he often had trouble with drinking and was really drunk when he got to the hospital.

On Tuesday, Imirowicz was given a little more than a year in jail as her punishment, but since she had already spent some time in jail, she didn't have to go back. She also has to be on probation for five years because of what she did.

Even Imirowicz herself was surprised by the short punishment as she left the courthouse.

“I was praying for a miracle today and that’s what I got,” Imirowicz told Court TV.

“I’m really happy I get to go home with my family. I’m scared to feel anything about my dad right now. I miss him a lot. I’m not ready.”
