Later that same day, his truck was found locked and undamaged in Botany Bay National Park, in Sydney's south. Police conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area but found no trace of Sergio or his belongings.
A Disappearance Out of Character
At the time he vanished, Sergio was described as 180 centimeters tall, of medium build, with brown hair, grey eyes, and an olive complexion. He had a goatee, an earring in his left ear, and a tattoo of a cross on his upper right arm. He was wearing blue track pants, a light purple T-shirt with blue sleeves, and a blue baseball cap. Sergio managed an existing medical condition and had taken his medication as usual that day. Family members told police at the time that his disappearance was completely out of character.
