On February 27 in Ohio Township, a woman named Theresa Cain killed her husband, son, and 74-year-old father before taking her own life, all after police had served an eviction notice. Additionally, Cain attempted to kill her 20-year-old daughter Samantha, but Samantha survived the attack.

After the Clermont County Sheriff's Office arrived at their Ohio Township home to serve eviction papers at around 9:40 am, a horrific murder-suicide took place, leaving a 20-year-old woman named Samantha in critical condition at the hospital.

Theresa Cain, the mother of the family, greeted the officials on the patio before quickly rushing back to the front door, muttering "no, no, no, no," and then firing multiple gunshots. As a result, Theresa's husband Steven Cain (50), son Ethan Cain (13), and her 74-year-old father William Felton were all shot dead. This tragedy occurred after their $299,000 (£266,000) home was repossessed and then purchased for $230,000 (£191,000).

According to the police, Steven Cain, who was a singer in the heavy metal band Critical Khaos, was shot dead in the garage of their home thirty minutes prior to the arrival of the eviction officers. It's believed that financial struggles motivated the tragic murder-suicide. The family had been facing financial difficulties for some time. Sheriff Steve Leahy stated that police had spoken to Theresa a few days before the eviction, and she had been cooperative.

Theresa Cain had requested a few more hours to pack their belongings and promised to vacate the house by 10 am when the police spoke to her a few days before the eviction. However, as soon as the officials arrived on the patio, she killed three members of her family, including her 74-year-old father William, who lived in the house, and her 13-year-old son Ethan.

Husband Steven was found downstairs with police thinking he was shot first.

The authorities suspect that Theresa may have hidden the eviction notice from her family because when officers arrived at the home, they found no bags packed, indicating that the family was not prepared to move out.

Mr Leahy said: "You would think there would be resources for someone like them but I think she kept this a very close secret.

"'Hopefully, Samantha recovers and can help fill in some blanks.

"It is tragic and unnecessary. What can we do to keep this from happening again?’ Well, I’m just not that sure that we can.

"When people are in crisis, it’s not as easy as just reaching out and saying, "I need help." They are spiralling. Nothing makes sense.'

"What we see here, you can’t make sense of this. Murder is a senseless thing but then you throw in suicide and the homicide of your family. It’s all very sad. This lady had been totally cooperative the entire time."

After the tragic loss of their lead singer, Steven Cain, Critical Khaos released a heartfelt statement. They confirmed that Steven was shot and killed in a murder-suicide and asked for privacy and respect for both the family and the band. The statement read, "We do not wish to speculate or say anything more. For the sake of our band brother, a good man, a good soul, and an excellent frontman, we ask for remembrance. Today, we have lost family."

Alicia Humphrey, a neighbor in the local area, expressed shock upon hearing the news of the tragedy. She stated that the family seemed normal, and she was taken aback by the incident.

She said: "I think we just never know. All we can do is pray for that family."

Now, the authorities are investigating the murders.
